Codes That Govern Esports Tower Coaching Programs
Esports Tower Code of Ethics for Coaches
I hereby pledge to live up to my certification as an Esports Tower Coach by following the Esports Tower Code of Ethics for Coaches:
-
I will place the emotional and physical well-being of my players ahead of a personal desire to win.
-
I will treat each player as an individual, remembering the large range of emotional and physical development for the same age group.
-
I will do my best to provide a safe playing situation for my players.
-
I will do my best to organize practices that are fun and challenging for all my players.
-
I will lead by example in demonstrating fair play and sportsmanship to all my players.
-
I will not cheat or engage in any form of unethical behavior that violates our code of conduct rules.
-
I will provide an esports environment for my team that is free of drugs, tobacco, and alcohol, and I will refrain from their use at all youth sports events.
-
I will be knowledgeable in the rules of each game that I coach, and I will teach these rules to my players.
-
I will use those coaching techniques appropriate for all of the skills that I teach.
-
I will remember that I am a youth esports coach and that the game is for children and not adults.
Applicability of the Ethics Code: While many aspects of personal behavior and private activities seem far removed from the official duties of coaching, all coaches should be sensitive to their position as role models for their athletes. Private activities perceived as immoral or illegal can influence the coaching environment, and coaches are encouraged to observe the Ethics Code consistently.
Code of Conduct
In the interest of creating a diverse and inclusive learning environment where players of all walks of life are able to thrive, Esports Tower coaches are expected to maintain a high level of professionalism both inside and outside the platforms used to coach, train and host community events. Coaches will treat all members of the Esports Tower community, including fellow coaches, with dignity, empathizing with their peers to create a collaborative environment where everyone is respected and able to learn as efficiently as possible.
Esports Tower coaches, community managers, and members of the Esports Tower community are expected to create and maintain a safe and appropriate environment for all participants, especially minors. To this end, we strictly prohibit any posting, talking about, soliciting, or participating in any 18+ explicit content. This includes, but is not limited to, sexually explicit language, images, videos, or links to websites that contain such content.
Esports Tower will refrain from engaging in behavior that is racist, sexist, homophobic, or hateful towards people of a particular race, gender, religion, age, ethnicity, sexual orientation, skill level or other groups. Reported instances of abusive or threatening language, inappropriate, demeaning, derogatory, or discriminatory slurs, and hate speeches will not be tolerated and have no place in our community.
In serving our community, coaches and community managers agree not to harass, bully, threaten, harm or conduct themselves in ways that negatively impact members of the gaming community as a whole. Coaches acknowledge that their employment creates a variety of student, teacher relationships that necessitate compliance with this code of conduct 24/7. Esports Tower coaches will not be alone with students, but rather will use a buddy system with their assistant coach or colleagues when individual player conversations are required. Coaches will not solicit students to coach them outside of Esports Tower (off the platform) and will not solicit students for explicit material or make advances with the intent of engaging in romantic relationships with their students. Abuse of this student/teacher relationship is unprofessional and will not be tolerated.
Esports Tower reserves the right to investigate all reported inappropriate behaviors of coaches regardless of circumstance, review submitted evidence and take disciplinary measures, if necessary, to protect the integrity of our community, culture, and reputation as an industry leader where diversity and inclusion are concerned. Failure to comply with Esports Tower’s code of conduct will result in loss of access to student clubs, revoked access to the previous team and/or student information, and termination of employment status.
We kindly ask that all coaches remember their decision to coach with Esports Tower not only grants them access to impressionable students, but comes with the responsibility to attend and teach the Esports Tower Approach to training & developing adolescent gamers. Please remember that you are viewed as a mentor, role model, and brand ambassador for Esports Tower, as well as the games you provide training and coaching. As such you are expected to comply with the Terms of Service of your respective esports title(s). Please be mindful of your behavior on and off the platform as well as in the game.
We humbly ask you to join us in building a sustainable safe community that we can all be proud of; one that will allow us all to continue earning a living doing the things we love and is deeply passionate about for many years to come.
