Coaching The Esports Tower Appoach

Just as you’ll find working in traditional sports, a coach helps the team train against other teams (aka ‘scrim’) in order to improve. Things like running a practice, game planning, reviewing film, and managing personalities are very similar to coaching traditional sports athletes. The only thing a bit different is that most esports players have never been part of an organized sports team.

Esports Tower coaches work closely with the players and teams, to motivate them, identify their strengths and weaknesses and make sure they are playing at their best. They will develop strategies and analyze opponents in order to win as many matches – and tournaments – as possible.

Because teamwork and cohesion are often the missing link between traditional athletes and esports players, we have developed an exclusive Esports Tower Approach™. Joining our team you’ll be expected to work lead your trainees using our 12-level program that’s geared towards instilling sportsmanship and teamwork and supporting athletes’ mental health, helping them build confidence, engender trust, and gain the collaboration skills needed to succeed in team sports.

Entertaining esports and gaming enthusiasts everywhere, Esports Tower works hard to create compelling and engaging content focused on telling the stories of esports athletes’ journeys from amateur to pro.

Airing weekly on over 50 streaming platforms, their Rumble program attracts highly desirable yet elusive Gen Z audiences, along with high disposable income millennials (as reported by Claritas Prizm Premier Profile).

Esports Tower’s multiple content formats allow commercial sponsors to choose the type of programming that best fits their objectives while helping them become part of the entertainment, not the interruption.

Esports Tower’s programming works to bridge the gap between GenZ and Millennials in ways that traditional broadcasts cannot, with weekly virtual tournaments, discord community events, Rumble highlight shows, LAN events hosted on university campuses, and unscripted docuseries like the eagerly awaited Esports IRL.

As an Esports Tower coach you’ll be responsible for every aspect relating to performance within a team. This includes, but is not limited to, growth of individual skill of the players, team cohesion, in-game strategy, motivational responsibilities and discipline. Coaches may also be required to record videos of matches, watch them back, keep up to date with the game in question, make notes and arrange scrims.

Commitment to Sportsmanship & Ethics

First and foremost, the Esports Tower Team strives to live out its core values and uphold sportsmanship and ethics to the highest degree. One of the first levels of the Esports Tower Approach™ is to establish a Code of Ethics and Sportsmanship for all members to adhere to as an example for all coaches and players involved in our competitive esports.

I hereby pledge to live up to my certification as a Esports Tower Coach by following the Esports Tower Code of Ethics for Coaches:

  • I will place the emotional and physical well-being of my players ahead of a personal desire to win.
  • I will treat each player as an individual, remembering the large range of emotional and physical development for the same age group.
  • I will do my best to provide a safe playing situation for my players.
  • I will do my best to organize practices that are fun and challenging for all my players.
  • I will lead by example in demonstrating fair play and sportsmanship to all my players.
  • I will not cheat or engage in any form of unethical behavior that violates our code of conduct rules.
  • I will provide an esports environment for my team that is free of drugs, tobacco, and alcohol, and I will refrain from their use at all youth sports events.
  • I will be knowledgeable in the rules of each game that I coach, and I will teach these rules to my players.
  • I will use those coaching techniques appropriate for all of the skills that I teach.
  • I will remember that I am a youth esports coach, and that the game is for children and not adults.
  1. Conduct all dealings with honesty and fairness.
  2. Respect the rights of all employees, athletes and volunteers to fair treatment and equal opportunity, free from discrimination and harassment of any type.
  3. Know, understand and comply with the laws, regulations, and codes of conduct governing the conduct of the Esports Tower business, both domestic and foreign.
  4. Ensure that all transactions are handled honestly and recorded accurately.
  5. Protect information that belongs to Esports Tower, our donors, sponsors, suppliers and fellow workers.
  6. Avoid conflicts of interest, both real and perceived.
  7. Never use Esports Tower assets or information for personal gain.
  8. Recognize that even the appearance of misconduct and impropriety can be very damaging to the reputation of Esports Tower and act accordingly.

Principle 1: Competence
Coaches recognize the boundaries of their competencies and the limitations of their expertise. They provide only those services and use only those techniques for which they are qualified by education, training, or experience.

Principle 2: Integrity
Coaches are honest, fair, and respectful of others.

Principle 3: Respect for Participants and Dignity
Coaches respect the fundamental rights, dignity, and worth of all those taking part in esports. Coaches are aware of cultural, individual, and role differences, including those of age, gender, race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, sexual orientation, disability, language, and socioeconomic status.

Principle 4: Concern for Others’ Welfare
Coaches seek to contribute to the welfare of those with whom they interact. When conflicts occur, coaches attempt to resolve these conflicts and to perform their roles in a responsible fashion that avoids or minimizes harm.

Principle 5: Responsible Coaching
Coaches are aware of their responsibilities to the community and the society in which they work and live. They apply and make public their knowledge of sport in order to contribute to human welfare. Coaches try to avoid misuse of their work. Coaches comply with the law.

While many aspects of personal behavior and private activities seem far removed from official duties of coaching, all coaches should be sensitive to their position as role models for their athletes. Private activities perceived as immoral or illegal can influence the coaching environment and coaches are encouraged to observe the Ethics Code consistently.

We’re gamers first, educators second. Esports Tower Coaches have an excellent understanding of the rules and intricacies of particular games, and usually are required to be able to play the game at a high level (or have ranked high in past). They’ll work to keep up to date with game changes and the meta (how pros are playing the game in a certain way), analyze other top-level matches to get ideas, identify the strengths and weaknesses of our student players, and come up with strategies to improve their performance.

Coaches and analysts can evaluate opponents, develop reports that help players rank-up faster, communicate with and use data effectively with players.

Some coaches also work to assist in the recruitment of players by scouts, helping with venues, monitoring the health of players and more.

Esports Tower coaches work with each team a minimum of twice a week, once for an hour and a half, and once for 2 hours, for a total of 3.5 hours weekly. A full time coach typically coaches 8-12 practice pods and aids in scheduling league or tournament times for teams to test the skills they’ve learned.

Our Esports Tower Coaches Academy offers online and live instruction monthly making sure everyone is following a consistent training structure proven to be successful. We offer continual training for our coaches, even bringing in guest trainers like the General Managers of professional organizations to do exclusive coaching clinics. Many of our current coaches also work for University programs supplementing their primary income at Esports Tower. They too often share insights from these experiences helping all coaches level up their skills and stay current with best practices in our industry and when there are scholarship opportunities for their varsity teams.

At Esports Tower, you’ll be joining an esports organization that helps create GREAT coaches. Some of our players come back as alumni working along tenured experienced coaches in hopes of growing their skills, gaining access to coaching tools, certification, support, and resources to help them begin a successful career in esports.
